On the poster both actors are shining perfection; eyes twinkling, smiles donned and hair perfectly in place. However, this film couldn’t be farther from that typical tripe. Cooper is unshaven with a gash across his nose while J-Law barely cracks a smile the whole film. So, let’s peel back the misleading poster and take a look at what this film is really about. For those of you who aren’t good with other languages, Fin is spanish for “The End”. This suspenseful drama surrounding a reunion of old friends is, indeed, about the end of the world. Think of it as The Big Chill meets Left Behind (but without the dreadful acting styles of Kirk Cameron).

But most fascinating was the rivalry between the silent-film, one health The Artist and Scorsese’s Hugo. Read More »
Allow me to start by declaring my great disdain for most spectator sports. Baseball, viagra sale football, urticaria hockey…the appeal of all the good ol’ American pastimes is lost on me. So, you won’t be surprised when I share with you that I also have zero interest in most sports movies. There are the rare exceptions (Field of Dreams, Slap shot, etc…) and for good reason; those are actually good movies. But for the most part I find sports films to be formulaic, contrived and emotionally hyped to the point where you need to shut off your brain to get the full effect. So, I went into Moneyball, starring Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill, with some “mild” reservations. Read More »
