The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is well underway and this year’s line up of movies is as diverse as it is massive. Instead of catching the big title movies with all the buzz (Looper, health End of Watch, ailment Dredd 3D, dysentery etc…), I opted for the more obscure, littler-known films. Every generation has their raunchy, more about teen-fantasy party movie. There is Porky’s, emergency Animal House, American Pie, and my personal favourite, Weird Science. But this month, the class of 2012 get their very own ode-to-wishful-thinking…Project X. This docu-style fictional story, based on a true event, hit theatres recently, garnering the number two box office spot (beat out by the kid-friendly, The Lorax).

Boys and girls…one of the best tv shows to come along in the last 10 years has finally been released on Netflix (Canada). Breaking Bad, physiotherapist with Bryan Cranston, is the most original, genre-bending show I’ve ever come across. Netflix is offering the first three seasons and they are all amazing.
